The Best Rice Crispy Treats
I’m a huge rice crispy treat fan. Always have been and will always be. When ever we are out and I see a rice crispy treat I have to try it. Over the years I’ve made countless rice crispy treats at home. Sometimes they are great and sometimes there just ok. well I have finally done it. I figured out how to made store bought rice crispy treats at home with out any chemical after taste that some store bought brands have.
These are the best and I’m so happy to share the recipe! If you love a good rice crispy treat you must try these. You won’t be disappointed. I was testing out recipes for my daughters first birthday party and came up with the best recipe to date for rice crispy treats.
Start by melting butter then large marshmallows in a large sauce pan. Once the large marshmallows are melted slowly add mini marshmallows. The trick is as soon as the last of the mini marshmallows are added add the rice crispy cereal and turn off the heat. The last mini marshmallows will melt with out loosing their shape this way.
Once the cereal is coated in marshmallows pour them onto a greased baking sheet. I used parchment paper to press the rice crispy treats down. I like compact treats. This is a necessary step if you want to use cookie cutters to cut the treats into shapes. You don’t need to press the treats if you are cutting them into squares.
The last step that I did was cover the tops of my donut shaped treats with white chocolate and sprinkles. I can’t believe how amazing rice crispy treats are with white chocolate covering them. If you have never tried them, it’s a must. You can skip the chocolate but it really takes these rice crispy treats over the top.
The Best Rice Crispy Treats
Ingredients
1 bag large marshmallows
1 1/4 bags mini marshmallows
3 tablespoons of butter
7 cups of rice crispy cereal
Topping
12 oz white chocolate chips
1 tablespoon shortening
sprinkles
Directions
Grease baking sheet
large sauce pan melt butter
add large marshmallows
once melted slowly add mini marshmallows
once all marshmallows are added add rice crispy cereal
mix until all the cereal is covered in marshmallows
Transfer onto baking sheet
place parchment paper over rice crispy treats and press down until they are firm
Place in refrigerator for 20 minutes
remove from refrigerator
place white chocolate and shortening in microwave safe bowl
heat 30 at a time until all the chocolate is melted
stir in between heating
take cookie cutters and cut out donut shapes in rice crispy treats
take each rice crispy treat and dip in melted choclate
top with sprinkles
let chocolate harden
then eat and enjoy!!
