Maple Frosted Cupcakes
In my family maple is everything. We grew up tapping trees and helping dad in the sugar shanty. I was super excited to share this recipe with my loved ones. So far every Boxler has loved my maple frosting and this recipe will continue to be a party favorite.
I first start by preheating the oven to 350 degrees. Now it is time to start making cupcakes. In a large bowl I whipped butter and sugar, until fluffy. Than I added eggs, sour cream, and extracts. I like to sift my dry ingredients for cake batter because it makes the cake smoother. With that being said you can choose to sift or not. Next I added my sifted dry ingredients; cake flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. I use cupcake lines in a cupcake pan and fill them ¾ of the way to the top with cake batter. Bake 20-30 mins. I check all my cakes and cupcakes with the tooth pick test. Once I stick a toothpick in cupcake and it comes out clean I know the cupcakes are done. When the cupcakes are done all them to cool completely before frosting.
When the cupcakes are cooling I start to make the frosting. I start by whipping butter using hand or electric mixer. Next I add maple extract and real maple syrup, continue to whip. Slowly add powdered sugar, whip until combined. Lastly I add heavy cream, whip for at least 5 minutes. When frosting cupcakes I like to add a generous amount and make sure to enjoy every bite.
